Seeing Double in the New Testament

In my personal Bible reading, I’ve come to the discovery that apparently Jesus had his feet anointed with expensive perfume and wiped dry with hair not once but twice:

  1. In John 12, by Mary the sister of Martha and Lazarus (Judas Iscariot considering the expenditure a waste); and
  2. in Luke 7, by a sinful woman (Simon the Pharisee questioning Christ’s true claim as prophet).
This makes the third famous story (along with the feeding of the 4-5,000 and Jesus’s cleansing of the Temple) that is usually referred to as a single event from the pulpit, but actually occurred twice. Interesting.
