In my personal Bible reading, I’ve come to the discovery that apparently Jesus had his feet anointed with expensive perfume and wiped dry with hair not once but twice:
- In John 12, by Mary the sister of Martha and Lazarus (Judas Iscariot considering the expenditure a waste); and
- in Luke 7, by a sinful woman (Simon the Pharisee questioning Christ’s true claim as prophet).
This makes the third famous story (along with the feeding of the 4-5,000 and Jesus’s cleansing of the Temple) that is usually referred to as a single event from the pulpit, but actually occurred twice. Interesting.
