Feed Yourself

Pick up a Bible. Open the YouVersion Bible app. Dig into the truth of scripture. Listen to it. Highlight it. Meditate on it. Journal with it. Wrestle with it. Pray over it. Apply it.

This is what it looks like to hear from God. This is what it looks like to walk in the Spirit. This is what it looks like to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.

In this clip, Mark Clarke talks about how the church of today lives in feast conditions. We have Bibles for every theme, translations for every preference, resources and studies for every purpose. Yet we experience famine conditions, because people are no longer feeding themselves. Instead, many Christians limit their spiritual nutrition to the Sunday message.

To use Paul’s metaphor, we’re stuck in our development. We’re infants that require spoonfeeding. We’re not leaving the high chair or even picking up a spoon.

And then we wonder why we don’t hear from God. And we wonder why our prayers don’t seem to have much power, or worse yet – why they don’t happen at all. And we wonder why we don’t see victory over addictions. And we wonder why we’re reluctant to share our faith. And we wonder why we feel lost and blown about in a world of philosophies.

We’re babies. Worse, we’re starving babies. Our diet is limited to 30 minutes of spoon-feeding a week. And it’s not enough.

Let’s start eating again.
